Located on the right bank of the river Zêzere, the parish of Santa Maria Madalena de Peso is located about fifteen kilometers from the city of Covilhã, the county seat. It borders the parishes of Paul, Coutada, Cortes do Meio, Tortosendo, Dominguiso and Vales do Rio.
Vales do Rio
Located at the foot of Serra da Estrela, the origins of this small village are undetermined, maintaining its primary rural nature over the centuries, changed in recent decades with the insertion of typical products from the Serra da Estrela, such as textiles, cereals, wood and production of the famous Serra cheese.
Vales do Rio is surrounded by a nature of great beauty, characterized by the River Zêzere that allows beautiful mountain landscapes here.
