The marks of the last glaciation, whose maximum occurred 30 thousand years ago in Serra da Estrela, are present in the entire upper area of this Mountain. The mass of ice, which in the Planalto da Torre reached 90 meters in thickness, fed seven glacial valleys, leaving other marks, today interpreted through different caves and lakes spread across the upper floor of this Geopark.
