14 km from the county seat, the parish of Orjais is located on the right bank of the river Zêzere, in Serra da Estrela.
Around the 1940s, several archaeological remains were found in this parish, which are currently located in Lisbon. These vestiges prove the ancient settlement of Orjais and early human settlement in its territory.
