GR33- Great Route of Zêzere

The Zêzere River valley is one of the territorial units that make up the territory of the Schist Villages and one of the natural areas with the greatest environmental diversity in the country. The creation of the GRZ- Great Route of Zêzere (GR 33) was designed to allow users to enjoy closer contact with this natural heritage.

The route is divided into nine coherent units, which reflect the characteristics of the river and its surroundings.
The entire length of the GRZ can be done on foot (7 stages) or by mountain bike (1 stage),

GR33 – Great Route of Zêzere: Irrigating the Cova da Beira [Sector 2]

With 55.7 km, the second of the sectors of the GRZ, is Irrigating the Cova da Beira. It connects Valhelhas, municipality of Guarda, to the Rest Area of Barco, municipality of Covilhã.

With a length of 55.7 km, the second of the nine sectors that make up the GRZ is called Irrigating Cova da Beira. It connects Valhelhas, municipality of Guarda, to the Rest Area of Barco, municipality of Covilhã, passing through Vale Formoso, Borralheira, Ponte Alvares, Tortosendo and Peso.

The route is divided into nine coherent units, which reflect the characteristics of the river and its surroundings.
The route was designed to be multimodal, and can be done on foot or by bicycle.
