Tortosendo – Peso Camping Park

Type: Linear Pedestrian; Distance: 11,4 Km

Average Duration: 2h40m (pedestrian) 1h00 (MTB)

The well-known Ponte Pedrinha, from Roman times, located on the former EN 18 over the Zêzere River basin, connects Tortosendo, Boidobra and Ferro / Peraboa. A small camping site and a restaurant were built in this location where you can rest and enjoy the local cuisine.

Being in the middle of Cova da Beira, nestled between the Serra da Estrela and the Gardunha Mountains, there is an ideal microclimate for the production of fruit, in particular peach, which characterizes the entire surrounding landscape. This fruit scene is mixed with wide pastures, supporting the once great wool industry that characterizes this region, as evidenced by the many existing warehouses. The parish of Tortosendo is an example of the ancient influence of the wool industry on the economy of these populations, which once filled the villages bordering the mountain with life.

DESCRIPTION OF THE ROUTE

Leaving this place, the route crosses the Pedrinha Bridge and follows the tar until the entrance to the access to the A23. From here, GRZ remains close to the river, passing first next to the Industrial Park of Tortosendo and then under the railway line, to follow agricultural paths along the bank to Peso, before crossing the access road to Dominguizo.
