Serra da Estrela is our location and your home for a visit to one of the most beautiful areas in Portugal.
Located in Penhas da Saúde, in the municipality of Covilhã, at an altitude of 1600 metres, is the Serra da Estrela Youth Hostel, formerly known as the Mountain Children’s Colony.
Anyone who has a pet knows that it is often difficult to travel and leave the pet alone, as it is not always easy to have a place to leave your partner.
Pets have a special place in the hearts of their owners, they are part of the family and when it comes to traveling, the “big-big” friend is included in the holidays!
As such, the Youth Hostel of Serra da Estrela allows the entry of your best friend, not only in the room, but also with free movement in the common areas with a leash. We just need you to let us know, when making your reservation, that your best friend will also come.
In summer, the swimming pool at Penhas da Saúde is part of the Pousada de Juventude da Serra da Estrela.
Despite having been closed for more than twenty years, it was reopened in 2019 with a maximum capacity of 400 people, sun loungers and a bar where you can eat and drink in peace.
The Serra da Estrela Youth Hostel has an access ramp for people with reduced mobility, as well as being adapted, throughout its interior, for people who move in a wheelchair.
