From June 11th to 19th, WOOL 2022 returns with a schedule filled with a lot of talent! It invades the streets of Covilhã again for another edition of the artistic celebration of the identity, history, present and people of this territory.
WOOL, the oldest Urban Art festival in Portugal, returned to the historic center of Covilhã between June 26 and July 4, 2021 and celebrated a decade of existence in this edition.
Covilhã has a notable set of interventions spread, mostly, in the historic area of the city.
In order to boost degraded areas and promote forgotten spaces, the Urban Art route is a veritable “museum” in the open air, paying homage to Covilhã’s glorious past as one of the most important wool production centers in the country.
The WOOL – Covilhã Urban Art Festival, started in 2001 was the first event of these characteristics in the interior of the country.
Today WOOL has in Covilhã 27 actions by national and international artists scattered around the city and is also a different way of getting to know the historic area of the city.
COVILHÃ MANCHESTER was the register of the 4th edition of WOOL, 7 years after its foundation. The first long record of a shared desire to pay due tribute to the history of the city of Covilhã, closely linked to the textile industry and to all this mountainous territory, which turns an Urban Art festival into an event with unique and distinctive characteristics, as always was the story of the then-called Portuguese Manchester.
