Ponte de Alvares is located between the parish of Ferro and the parish of Peraboa, connecting these two towns to the city of Covilhã. , in which families gathered together to fish, have a picnic, go for a bath or even do their laundry.

The Cherry Interpretive Center, in the village of Ferro, is a space that was created in the central and historic area of the village, in a stone house completely remodeled and that highlights one of the most representative products of Cova da Beira. The Center is open to the public and offers guided tours of the cherry trees, cherry picking and visits to processing companies. It also has a store where all cherry derivatives are promoted: liqueurs and jams, among others. In the village of Peraboa, the Cheese Museum allows you to learn about the manufacturing process of one of the best cheeses in the world: Serra da Estrela cheese, a delicacy appreciated and recognized internationally.

DESCRIPTION OF THE ROUTE

After crossing the river, GRZ approaches the highway via the tar road. Now following dirt roads, the route follows it and allows us a distant perspective on the southern slope of Serra da Estrela. After leaving the proximity of the A23 you will soon find the camping site of Tortosendo, already on the bank of the river.
